Verse of the day

September 09, 2021

Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalm 139:23-24

To Day's Prayer

September 09, 2021

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. Ephesians 6:10–11, NIV

Lord God, we thank you that it is your will to strengthen us through your presence, through Jesus Christ, the leader of your cause, who is and remains victor among all on earth. Our souls need strength and our hearts need confidence so that in our time we can draw near to you and to your kingdom. Bless us with the Holy Spirit whenever we begin to grow weary. Your Holy Spirit can give us the strength to believe and hope, the strength to see the salvation that is coming to give joy to all the world. Amen.

"Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe."

John 4:48

A craving after marvels was a symptom of the sickly state of men's minds in our Lord's day; they refused solid nourishment and pined after mere wonder. The gospel which they so greatly needed they would not have; the miracles which Jesus did not always choose to give they eagerly demanded. Many nowadays must see signs and wonders, or they will not believe. Some have said in their heart, "I must feel deep horror of soul, or I never will believe in Jesus." But what if you never should feel it, as probably you never may? Will you go to hell out of spite against God, because he will not treat you like another? One has said to himself, "If I had a dream, or if I could feel a sudden shock of I know not what, then I would believe." Thus you undeserving mortals dream that my Lord is to be dictated to by you! You are beggars at His gate, asking for mercy, and you just need to draw up rules and regulations as to how he shall give that mercy. Think you that he will submit to this? My Master is of a generous spirit, but he has a right royal heart, he spurns all dictation, and maintains his sovereignty of action. Why, dear reader, if such be your case, do you crave for signs and wonders? Is not the gospel its own sign and wonder? Is not this a miracle of miracles, that "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him might not perish"? Surely that precious word, "Whosoever will let him come and take the water of life freely" and that solemn promise, "Him that cometh unto me, I will in no wise cast out," are better than signs and wonders! A truthful Saviour ought to be believed. He is truth itself. Why will you ask proof of the veracity of One who cannot lie? The devils themselves declared Him to be the Son of God; will you mistrust him?

Today's Prayer

September 02, 2021

Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger...through glory and dishonour, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything. 2 Corinthians 6:4–5, 8b–10, NIV

Dear Father in heaven, you are always near to us on earth, and we thank you for all the love you put into our lives so that we can be joyful, even in all kinds of temptations and struggles. How much you have given us and how often you have rescued us from distress! Again and again, you have let the light of life shine out. You give us light not only for the moment but also for the future, enabling us to draw strength and assurance from the present, the past, and the future, to the glory of your name. Amen.

Help us, God our Savior,
    for the glory of your name;
deliver us and forgive our sins
    for your name’s sake.

TOPIC: It’s in His Hands

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Psalm 27:1, NIV – The LORD is my light and my salvation–whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid?

Devotion Message:

Are you worried about your children, stressed out over your job, or discouraged because of a disappointment, thinking it’s not going to work out? We need to live with the attitude of the psalmist David. He had all kinds of things come against him–people, armies, even his own family–and yet he would say to you about your situation, “God’s got this. He’s directing your steps. He’s bringing the right people across your path and your children’s paths. He has beauty for the ashes, and right now He’s working behind the scenes. Dare to believe, dare to trust. Be still and know that He is God. He has you in the palms of His hands.”

Don’t worry or fear when you face obstacles that are bigger than you. It’s an opportunity for God to show you He’s God. It’s one thing to believe God has the power to do the impossible. But God wants you to do more than just believe; He wants you to experience His power. He will show you His greatness.

PRAY WITH US
Father, thank You that You are my light and my salvation. You are the stronghold of my life, so I need not fear. When things come against me, help me to remember that You have it in Your hands. I want to experience Your power and know Your greatness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

And, with all these, take up the great shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Ephesians 6:16, NEB

Lord our God, we long to come into your light, to live in your strength, that we may do what pleases you and furthers your kingdom on earth. Protect us from evil and do not let us be wounded by the flaming arrows of the evil one. Make paths for us whenever we do not know how to go forward. We always know you are our Father. Because you are our Father, we want to be courageous and persevere to the end so that you can make our lives bear fruit for you, to the glory of your name. Amen.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
Psalms 91:11‭-‬13 NIV

God has placed his Angels to take care of us. Angels are busy working in our daily lives, they are active in Hospitals, in Market places, at Schools, in Roads to protect God's people from accidents, Angels are God's armies in operation everyday and everywhere.

Dear Jesus,

Please help me. I need you. Circumstances seem out of control, and with all the voices shouting at me, I am struggling to focus on you alone. I cry out to you today because your name is above every other name.

I want to be like Bartimaeus and not be afraid to call on you in the midst of the crowds. When I say the name, “Jesus,” the enemy trembles. He is no match for you, the King of Kings and giver of mercy and grace. You bring hope to my hurt and healing to my weary soul.

Help me get rid of distractions and break down barriers between us as I focus on you. Romans 10:13 promises, “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Thank you Jesus for this undeniable truth! Thank you for caring about me and hearing me when I pray.

Praise your powerful name, Amen.

Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:25–26, NIV

Dear God and our Father, if only we have you, we desire nothing more in heaven or on earth. Body and soul may fail, but you, O God, are the strength and comfort of our hearts and you are ours forever. May we live in your Spirit and may your light shine over us. Touch our hearts and help us understand the greatness of what you call us to. Help us and free us again and again so that we are not bound by fear, even when we must pass through intense suffering. For your hand shall be with us and shall rescue us. Your hand shall bring about good for us and for all the people around us. Our hearts go out to them and we plead for them too, "Lord, send your Savior to all."

Amen.
