Tanzanian gospel sensation Christina Shusho has sparked controversy after publicly endorsing President Samia Suluhu, a move that has drawn sharp criticism from her fans and supporters.
The singer, known for her uplifting music, shared a message on Instagram featuring the official portrait of the Tanzanian leader, which left many feeling she was overlooking recent events affecting both Tanzania and Kenya.
In her caption, Shusho wrote, “Neema ya Mungu ikutoshwe mama, tuna mtukuza Mungu kwa ajili yako,” translating to “May God’s grace be sufficient for you, mother, we praise God for you” in English. She further added, “Do the best of your human ability and God will do the rest. You are indeed our pride, Amen,” a sentiment that appeared to laud the president’s leadership.
However, this praise did not sit well with many of her followers, who flooded her comment section with disapproval. One user remarked, “Unfollow Shusho button,” while others called for her cancellation, reflecting widespread discontent.
The backlash stems from perceptions that Shusho was ignoring pressing issues, including political and social challenges in the region.
Fans from both Tanzania and Kenya expressed frustration, feeling her support for Suluhu clashed with their concerns.
