Renowned Ghanaian gospel singer Diana Hamilton has kicked off 2024 with an exciting new collaboration. Her latest single “The Doing of the Lord” features beloved Nigerian gospel vocalist Mercy Chinwo, uniting the two stars across cultures in a bilingual celebration of their faith.

‘The Doing of the Lord’ marks Hamilton’s first release of the new year, arriving ahead of major projects in the course of the year. These include her popular annual flagship concert series “The Awake Experience with Diana Hamilton,” which draws fans from across Ghana and beyond for intimate worship.

As inspired directly by Psalm 124 – “If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose against us…”, The Doing Of The Lord offers listeners the opportunity to ponder on the goodness of the Lord every day and offer a worthy thanksgiving to God daily.

True to Hamilton’s discography and thoughtful style, the new single effortlessly combines English lyrics with the Ghanaian Twi local dialect. The seamless fluidity between the two languages presented no barrier for Chinwo, whose superb effort in singing the language surprised most of her Ghanaian fans. This can be seen in lines like  “Sɛ ɛnyɛ Nyame na ɛwɔ mafa aa, anka ɛnyɛ oo” (meaning “If it had not been the Lord who was on my side”).

The cross-pollination of two of the leading voices in African gospel music makes for a single that draws strongly from both their repertoires of soulful anthems. As one fan tweeted before its release, “When you bring @DiHamilton and Mercy Chinwo together, you know it’s going to be straight fire!”

One beautiful thing about this song ‘The Doing of the Lord’ is Diana still maintains her unique style and sound in serving both local and contemporary gospel music lovers. This has also been noted by social media commentators and music critics.

Aside from this incredible new single and as mentioned above, Diana in February will host her flagship “The Awake Experience with Diana Hamilton” which comes off in both Accra and Kumasi as usual, marking a decade of this experience since its inception in 2014
